New SU goodies

Saturday, 29 May 2010

Julie brought round the Stampin' Up! goodies we ordered from my workshop on Monday so I had a quick play!
The Fox & Friends stamps are soooo adorable! Got a few friends with babies on the way so they will get lots of use!
I am also in love with the Bird punch.
Colours used here are Chocolate Chip ink, Old Olive card and ribbon and Tall Tales paper. And a Stitched Felt leaf.
The letters are some random stamps I have.

SU album

Friday, 28 May 2010

I made this album from a Stampin' Up! kit put together by Monica (see her awesome blog here). The papers are totally stunning and I love the felt pieces. I did the baby one as a practice as Monica included a little example.

First ever easel card

Wednesday, 26 May 2010

Tonight I decided to make an easel card. A friend is in hospital so I hope this will cheer her up a bit.

Everything except the spotty card base is by Stampin' Up! The stamps are from the Botanical Blooms set and I just love the two-step effect. The ink colours are Rose Red and Always Artichoke from a free card kit. And the yummy ribbon and felt buttons were from the goody bag Julie gave me for hosting a workshop.

Definitely a winner in terms of colour combo and theme I think.

Stampin' Up! workshop

Tuesday, 25 May 2010

Julie came round to my house last night to run a Stampin' Up! workshop for myself and some friends and we had LOADS of fun. :-) We had some foodage (pizzas, sweeties, crisps and Nicolien's beautiful cupcakes), lots of natters and giggles and got very crafty.
Julie used the Vintage Vogue set and showed us how to make a little gift box first. She put some goodies in and handed it to me! :-) I got some ribbons and some of the felt flowers, very lush.
Then we made a cute card using the set and gorgeous pinks and yellow cards and a bit of ribbon.
A great evening all round. I ordered lots of great things - can't wait till they arrive and I can play.
Big thanks to all my lovely friends for coming round and to Julie for being fab! Make sure you go check out her blog here.
I'm thinking about becoming a demo myself now ...

Fascinator number two

Sunday, 23 May 2010

I made this one to match a rosette brooch I made with the WI a while back (which is lost somewhere in my room!). Anyway, I covered the base in the same chequered material and used a maroon bias binding to edge it and some maroon netting. The feathers are black and maroon goose and the ribbon is a strip of the chequered fabric stitched into some bias binding. I am in love with it. Now need somewhere to wear it ...

Cross stitch garden

Saturday, 15 May 2010

I stitched this for my grandma's birthday. It's the second in the set - the first is similar but with a garden bench and was her Christmas present. I love the colours and the haziness of it - gives just the right effect. And is good cos backstitching annoys me!

Fascinator making with the WI

Friday, 14 May 2010

At last night's Buns & roses WI worshop we made fascinators. I decided to go for Chanel-influened green and pink for mine, with ribbon and buttons. It will go nicely with a scarf I am knitting in the same colours. Don't expect to see that anytime soon though!

First ever scrapbook page - F1 theme of course!

Tuesday, 11 May 2010

Here is my first attempt at a scrapbook page.
The picture of Sebastian Vettel and the quote from him under the flag were from an interview in the latest Red Bulletin. I made the flag by weaving strips of paper. The big wings were in a mix bag of embellishments I ordered off eBay and I think the yellow ribbon came from some sort of goody bag as well. I stamped Vettel on to corrugated paper then went over it with a Sharpie to make it clearer.
Overall I am pleased with the result. I think it was actually a tough theme to start on.

ILWS challenge

I made this card for the In Love With Stamping May Design Team Challenge Sketch, which you can find the details for
here. It didn't turn out quite as good as I had hoped to be honest, but it's a learning curve. The white flowers were just ruffled up circles of crepe paper, with pre-made daisies stuck on top. This is the kind of thing I want to get better at doing.

Wowser

There was a demo day at Samuel Taylor yesterday. Made me realise just how much fun stuff there is to play with! Lots of exciting glitters and cutty things and papers. Managed to resist the temptation to spend lots, but bought some mags with lots of inspiration in. My head is exploding with ideas!

A Formula 1 card

Tuesday, 4 May 2010

I made this today for my friend Paul. The flag was made from weaved strips of paper, with a rolled up bit for the handle. I'll probably do a similar one for my dad's birthday, which is later this month.
