Just My Type

These are Just My Type of cards. Get it?!

The typewriter is part of an American SU set that wedon't have over here unfortunately, but I had to have it so thankfully a US friend sent it over to me! Gotta love international relations!

I combined it with my favourite Broadsheet Alphabet, thin Taffeta Ribbon and Twill Tape and Newsprint DSP to come up with these cards.

It was a while ago that I made them, and I'm pleased to say that one of the ladies at WI loved them as much as me and bought one straightaway!

It's nice to know I'm not alone!

Monster aliens

Another quickie for you - some awesome kids cards!

I saw this design at our Stampin' Up! Convention last year, although it's taken me until now to CASE it!

The aliens are actually monsters from the Make A Monster set. You get to build your own scary creatures using the different bodies and parts!

It should actually be a punched out circle with the alien stamped on the inside of the card, but I forgot to do that before sticking all the layers down, so I just stuck the circle with the alien on top! His spaceship uses the large oval punch and the stars were from a SAB set called So Happy For You.

Pretty cool I think!

Musical birthday

Saturday, 26 March 2011

Today's card was made as one of my mum's commissions for my uncle Alton, who is very musical. He plays all sorts of instruments and runs the local folk club so the Music Notes Wheel was just the ticket!

Again, design inspiration came from the lovely Vicky. Her cards never fail to amaze me!

I rolled the wheel in Versamark and then sponged over it with ink, but you can't see the resist effect in the pics. I added wheeling again in blue and black. The writing uses the Just Perfect Alphabet.

And here's the inside!

I hope he likes it! Must admit I don't usually make cards for all my relatives now. They get to see my work as my mum always buys all her cards off me anyway.

Scrapbooking - my niece and nephew

Friday, 25 March 2011

A few pics today of scrapbook pages I made of my niece Ziva and nephew Samuel.

The two 12x12 pages were done at a class run by my SU mummy Jules. I then decided to do two A4 ones to give to my big brother and his wife.

We used the Nursery Suite DSP and Quick Accents kit, with matching colour cardstock. The backing sheet was stamped andomly using Bundle of Love.

And these are the others I did afterwards, using some Striped Grosgrain Ribbon and the Boho Blossoms Punch.

I must do some more scrapbooking soon. Just need to print pics out!

Wedding accessories

Thursday, 24 March 2011

My friend Georgiana (president at Buns & Roses WI) gets married at the beginning of April and it wouldn't be right if I didn't have at least some homemade part of my outfit. So, with the assistance of Hayley during her workshop for the WI federation last weekend, I have made a fascinator and bracelet.

She had some yummy sinamy with embroidered flowers so I got myself some matching trim and beads and away I went!

I made a matching bracelet too.

Now I just need shoes and a handbag!

More quickies!

Wednesday, 23 March 2011

Here's another round-up of quick pics I've not shown yet! Some little cards for my important dates tin and another cover for a tin.

Really quick and easy - squares of the Celebrations DSP and stamps from Party This Way.

Good for blokes using Trendy Trees and Nursery Suite DSP.

A kids card with the Fox and Friends animals and Play Date DSP.

Another bloke one using Cheers To You and some In Color ribbon.

Finally, another of the cover labels for the tins.

I am feeling very summery today and enjoyed my lunch outside. I am solar powered so I always get a boost when spring arrives. Only problem is I couldn't sit and do my work out there because of the glare on my laptop screen. Ah well!

Songbird

Tuesday, 22 March 2011

Anyone who knows me at all will know that I am a massive fan of Fleetwood Mac. If you don't know that you've obviously never spoken to me for more than a minute.

So last night I made two projects using Songbird as my inspiration. It's one of my favourite songs by them and should a miracle happen and I get married it will be my first dance.

I have used the Notably Ornate stamp set, which has a beautiful bird and an amazing vintage frame (as well as two others!).

Project one is a pendant. I stamped the image on to Very Vanilla card and stuck it to the clear charm with Crystal Effects. The little round tag is a piece of the Newsprint DSP and I decorated the chain with some buttons and my favourite ribbon.

And here's project two - a card. I used Versamark to stamp the frame, which creates a tone-on-tone effect.

The bird was embossed on to Newsprint DSP and inked up with the brayer. I added some Grungeboard, also inked up. I'm not convinced the little frame works quite right - my handwriting could be better! I would really love a typewriter, that would be perfect for this type of thing. Would anyone like to buy me one?!

The WI and vintage finds

Monday, 21 March 2011

Mondays aren't all bad! Today has been pretty good fun so far and a lovely start to the week.

I was up at the West Yorkshire Federation of Women's Institutes this morning for the membership committee meeting. I am all for getting involved and it's great to be able to help the WI grow. As usual, I came away with several tasks, so I will be busy doing my bit!

And on the way back I called into the antique shop on Armley Town Street. I keep meaning to go in and I'm glad I finally managed to visit today.

I bought a few books ...

The two little ones are for me. I will hopefully alter them and use them in scrapping and card making projects. The motorbike one is for my good friends Hayley and Flower as a bribe to get them to help me restore this ...

Mini sewing machine! I just had to have it! It does work but needs a bit of cleaning up and some oil. I keep meaning to use real stitching on my cards and scrapbook pages but it is such a faff getting out my big proper sewing machine. So once this is up and running I have no excuse!

And to top it all off, the sun is shining! Lovely!

Friday again!

Friday, 18 March 2011

Seriously, where are all the days going?! It has been non-stop this week, and looks the same next week, and the one after, and the one after ...

Anywho, last night was our WI meeting and was much fun as always. I did some crafting while I was there, obviously, and tomorrow I'm assisting Hayley on her fascinator workshop at the loval WI federation office.

So by Sunday I'll be shattered again!

Here's my quick card for today, and then I'm off to do some work and prepare myself for more madness!

This is one I made for my mum. She sends me a list of what cards she needs and I make her a big batch to keep her going.

This uses the matching Growing Green stamp set and Woodland Walk DSP. I went for the neutral browns to keep it quite classy, with a hint of Champagne Shimmer Paint and a Pearl to finish it off.

Oh, one more thing; I'm having a workshop on Thursday, April 14th here in Armley to celebrate the new Mini Catalogue. Details over there >>> or email/call me!

More quick pics!

Wednesday, 16 March 2011

Here we go again, with three catch-up pics. These were from previous classes.

I love this bunting from the Party This Way set. I got these stamps FREE just for attending Convention. Two days of crafting fun with ace friends AND freebies. Heaven! The bunting was strung on to Linen Thread and secured with Brads. And check out all the balloons floating away!

Here's a card that is great for men. They can be so difficult even doing something nice for them is hard sometimes! I love the wheels and this one is right up my street! The DSP is Blueberry Crisp.

Finally, a gift tag in my favourite colour and a bit of glitter. Yum!

A quick catch-up

Tuesday, 15 March 2011

Nearly time for bed, but I have realised I have LOADS of things to show that I must do before I can start sharing pics of projects made from the new mini catalogue when it comes out in April. And I have already done quite a few, so if I don't get blogging I will never be on top of things!

So here are two pics from Convention last November.

These are some of my swaps. With 100 card fronts to do I decided on four different designs. These are the flowery ones using the Two-Step Bird Punch and Cute By The Inch hostess set.

And I decorated these little bottles then filled them with bath salts. One was for my roomie Joy and the other for mummy Jules.

Two down ...

200th post! I'm with the band!

Monday, 14 March 2011

Wow, 200 posts! Amazing.

I'm preparing for yet another manic week here. Honestly, it never ends!

Yesterday I re-sorted all my craft stuff. My yummy new goodies from the SU Mini Catalogue arrived and I had nowhere to put it all so I had to buy some new bookcases! So now my whole wall behind my desk is taken up with Stampin' Up! yumminess! I can't show you though, because there are things on the shelves that will give the game away about the new catalogue! I have been having a good play with it all and am very excited about the amazing new products we have. As soon as April 1st comes I'll be bombarding you with new projects!

In the meantime, here is a scrapbook page using photos of a band called Stone Sour. I have been lucky enough to tour with several bands in my time, and Stone Sour are one of my faves. I had to take some pics as part of a uni project and I asked Jim, the bassist, if I could use him as my subject. He did offer to pose naked, but I stuck with live shots on stage. I processed and developed the photos myself in the uni darkroom, which was great fun.

So anyway, here are Jim and Corey at Manchester Academy.

I kept this page nice and simple. The photos were mounted on Basic Gray card andedged with the Spiral Border Punch to give the roll of film look.

The names were added right on to the photos using the Rub-Ons. I think they look fab.

I also used the Rub-Ons for the title, as well as some film strip. And, of course, the Music Notes Wheel and Star Punch.

So, I am off now to tackle this week! Don't expect too much of me - I have exactly no spare time at the moment!

And now for something completely different

Thursday, 10 March 2011

No cards today - I have something even better to show you ...

It's Bodd! :-) I went up to the farm for tea yesterday so got to visit him. He has gotten quite fat - must be all the fresh milk from the cows! We had a good cuddle and I gave him some meat and sardines.

Here they are tucking in! Bodd is always first there. The little fudgey one is his best friend.

There are about 11 cats in total and they all cuddle up together in the hay or the troughs, so Bodd is being well looked-after.

Just Believe extravaganza!

Wednesday, 9 March 2011

Today I have a whole host of cards to share using the Just Believe stamp set. This remains one of my favourite since we were given it at SU Convention in November. Yes, really, demos get quite a lot of freebies!

These cards were the ones we made at my SU mummy Julie's all-day training in January. We created five different designs based on the same set and then packaged them up into what is known as a baggie book. Each card is inside a cello bag and they are held together with eyelets. This is a great way to show samples without them getting damaged.

So here goes ...

Lovely bright colours on this one and some of the DSP and brads.

Another great colour combo and some shadow stamping here.

My favourite colour! The DSP is the beautiful Lap of Luxury and we used the Rub-Ons too. I had never tried these before and they are AMAZING!

This one is quite funky, with a scalloped trim and some paper piercing.

And a very dramatic card here.

So you can see how Just Believe is a really versatile stamp set and can be used in many different ways. That's why it is one of my favourites - I never get bored of using it!

Spring has sprung!

Tuesday, 8 March 2011

Could spring finally be here?! I don't want to jinx it, but now the sun is making an appearance and I have seen the first lot of crocus and daffodils poking their heads out into the world I'm feeling all warm and fuzzy!

It is my mum's birthday today, so yesterday I journeyed back down to Chester for a few days with the family. Nightmare on the trains, but worth it.

Here's the card I made for mum.

She likes daffodils, so I think this will go down well!

I created the flowers using the Growing Green stamps and a the 1/4" Circle Punch all folded and squashed up. Inspiration from the lovely Vicky once again! The stems are from Just Believe and I added bees from the SAB Sweet Summer set. Mum loves bees - she is known as Nanna Bee to the kids!

So for the rest of the week I will be working and spending time with the rellies. Tea at my bro's tonight to meet his new daughter, lunch with nanna and granddad tomorrow, tea with mum at the farm to see Bodd, then time with my dad and step mum.

Will be good to get back to Leeds on Friday for a rest!
